Extreme Keys Options

Warning: Extreme keys use hash_hmac() to combine static secrets with dynamic server variables. Sessions will be invalidated when the selected components change (IP switch, browser update, rotation interval). Client IP is unreliable behind CDNs/proxies and logs mobile users out on every network change; every rotation logs everyone out and invalidates password-reset links. The defaults (server address only, no rotation) are the safe choice.

bcrypt needs Apache 2.4+ or an nginx whose system crypt() supports bcrypt (libxcrypt — current distributions); APR1-MD5 works everywhere but is weak (1,000 MD5 rounds).

Generate TOTP one-time passwords (RFC 6238). Scan the QR code with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Aegis, etc.).

Many apps (e.g. Google Authenticator) only support SHA-1 with 6 digits — change these only if your service requires it.
